This snail is eating... you guessed it... another snail that
I accidentally trod on. It's what he would have wanted.
Slugs
This slug climbed the conifers!
Birds
I had a laugh watching this Blackbird-
he couldn't figure out how to get near to the water for a shower,
without actually falling in. Finally, he clambered over the weeds
and had a right good splash about.
This blackbird pulled out some plants to make
a nest.
This Wood Pigeon was attracted to the
pond when the above Blackbird was splashing around. It never did
work out how to have a shower!
This one often waits on top of the bird table.
This Sparrowhawk occasionally perches on
the tree in the corner of our garden. Although we haven't seen
this lovely bird of prey drink or bathe in the pond, he is
attracted to the birds that do!
A Thrush soaking up the morning sun.
Mice
This mouse has mastered the art of climbing the bird table
to eat their food.
They are regular visitors to the garden and pond but often
get chased away by Tommy &
Jimmy.
Foxes
The dog fox looking for snails and slugs.
Maria, Jimmy & I were sat in the garden when she trotted
round sniffing for food. Luckily I had my trusty camera with me.
She returned 10 minutes later to sit down and have a good
scratch and now I know where Jimmy
gets his fleas!
She's scratching again - look at her facial expression! Also note the home-made
Fox-Alert; consisting of a piece of
flexible wood, a very long wire, a 9-volt battery and a buzzer indoors.
Here she decided to have a kip in the sun after eating the
dog biscuits. Her chin was resting on the micro-switch causing the buzzer indoors to go off for the whole duration.
We were surprised to see how well the fox looked when it
visited over Christmas 2000. Probably down to all those christmas
puddings left out by the locals!
This photo shows the fox prints as it climbed over my
car! It jumped up onto the bonnet and then onto the roof where it
appears it turned around a few times. Below you will see a close-up
of the paw print and you will see that there is no doubt that it is from a
fox. We know a fox has done this sort of thing on the car before but we
just don't know WHY? Any ideas anyone?
